Repression Continues in Armenia’s Marzes

March 10, 2008 - 16:30

Persecution of presidential candidate Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s election proxies and supporters continues to take place in Armenia’s Marzes (Regions). Forces of the National Security Service and other law enforcement agencies continue their ‘personal’ sorties against Ter-Petrosyan supporters in the Tumanyan district. In Odzun the gas supply has been shut-off in the home of Albert Nalbandyan (family of 8) and Davit Makichyan (family of 4) merely for attending public rallies in support of Ter-Petrosyan. In the early morning hours of March 9th, the flourmill belonging to Loris Aghvanyan (a Ter-Petrosyan proxy with no party affiliation) and his brother Yezek Aghvanyan (a member of the People’s Party of Armenia), was burnt to the ground.
